Process monitoring and quality control using camera technology is employed in almost all automated processes in the production of technical products. This is known as machine vision. Appropriate filters and optical elements enable the use of camera systems all the way from VIS to far into the NIR spectrum. Materion Balzers Optics produces customized bandpass filters, beam splitters and absorbing coatings for such systems. These are adapted to each application and designed for systems with a very large optical angle of incidence (AOI). Materion Balzers Optics also assembles the filter and sensor units. By using a special coating process, both these components can be connected as a hermetic unit.
