Materion Balzers Optics develops and produces customized optical filters and components, which are optimized for the special requirements in the segment of measurement technology, distance measurement, autonomous vehicle control and robots. Bandpass filters with high transmission in the pass band, defined blocking in the secondary areas, and polarization dependent filters are just two examples of the components which can be produced in the range of VIS to NIR. Our experience in the design and manufacture of such products allows us to develop specific solutions for a wide range of applications and uses. Parameters such as angular shift, polarization dependence, or the reliable suppression of "ambient light" effects can be adjusted exactly. Complementing the high environmental stability of our coatings are products with high reliability even under extreme application conditions.
NIR bandpass filters with minimum angle dependency and effective blocking are key components in industrial safety applications like light curtains. Maximum transmission capacity of the illumination wavelength (laser or LED) with excellent signal to noise ratio is required. Therefore, the ambient light spectrum (other than the illuminating wavelength) must be blocked reliably in order to achieve the best possible contrast.
