Optics Balzers AG, a provider of innovative optical coatings and components, looks back to a successful fiscal year with total growth in sales revenue of 25%. An important contribution to this success was made by the company's German subsidiary Optics Balzers Jena GmbH. In 2010, the 30-member team in Jena boosted its sales by 60%. In order to further increase the production capacities, three new jobs will be created in Jena, and more are planned.
Stefan Jakobs, Managing Director of Optics Balzers Jena GmbH, is extremely satisfied with the subsidiary's development of business: "Our order books are full and our team is highly motivated. Our powerful global sales organization has enabled us to gain a foothold in new markets. Moreover, the markets have recovered perceptibly, and customers have approached us with numerous new and promising projects. We are therefore now seeking committed specialists to strengthen our team." The integration of the former company "mso jena GmbH" in Optics Balzers AG has given growth of this site in Jena a strong boost. The increase in sales revenue of more than 60% requires Optics Balzers Jena to expand its production capacities. Therefore, a state-of-the-art coating system will be procured and the production floor will be expanded. This rapid pace of development has allowed three new jobs to be created in Jena in the course of the past year. Soon, at least three additional positions will be created for committed specialist staff.
Construction of the new building in Balzers is making headway
The parent company in Balzers increased its sales in Swiss francs by 6% despite the low exchange rate of the euro. The main reasons for this encouraging development are the general recovery of markets and the execution of new customer projects. Furthermore, a number of new accounts have been won especially in the United States and in Germany, but also in other European countries. The Liechtenstein-based high-tech company looks to the future with confidence and is therefore investing continuously. The building construction costs for the new facility in Balzers will total more than 15 million Swiss francs. The construction project is on schedule and promises significant improvements of the production processes.
