Optics Balzers further expands its quality management system

Since May 2011, Dr. Reinhard Sperger has been in charge as Chief Quality Officer (CQO) for the continuous improvement of the products, processes, and services of all sites of Optics Balzers. With this newly created function, the provider of innovative optical coatings and components is systematically pursuing its road to growth. New staff members at Optics Balzers include Gilbert Zünd, who will now control Production and Purchasing activities as Chief Operating Officer (COO) at the company's headquarters in Balzers.

In order to satisfy the increasingly complex and stringent requirements and expectations of its customers worldwide, Optics Balzers is continuously investing in the improvement of its products, services, and processes. By creating the function of a Chief Quality Officer (CQO), who will be active at the company's headquarters as well as at its subsidiary Optics Balzers Jena GmbH, the Liechtenstein-based high-tech company is further expanding its quality management system. Dr. Reinhard Sperger, who has been CQO of Optics Balzers since May 2011, possesses over 20 years of experience in the development, application, and production of optical thin film coatings. He joined the company in 1990 and has since then held various management functions, last as Head of the Engineering Team.

As Chief Operating Officer (COO), Gilbert Zünd took charge of Production and Purchasing in Balzers in May 2011. One focus of his activity will be on further forging ahead with the implementation of process-oriented manufacturing. Gilbert Zünd has accumulated vast experience in the field of production management and process optimization. His last function was that of Operations Manager with Metallwalzwerk AG in Menziken.

In addition, Alex Vogt, CEO of Optics Balzers, plans to push the management of new and demanding customer projects and help the company achieve sustainable success by targeted strengthening of the competence teams by adding more qualified specialists in Balzers and Jena.
